The next Patrick Roy of the Canadiens has been identified, and he is already in the organization
The Canadiens have had some great goalies in their history, including Patrick Roy and more recently Carey Price, and the next one might well be Jacob Fowler.
Indeed, the young man had an incredible first season in the NCAA and will likely be just as strong this season, which will surely be his last before turning professional.
Expect him to sign his entry-level contract and play for the Laval Rocket starting the 2025-26 season, and he will one day become the number one goalie for the Habs.
According to Pierre McGuire and Ryan Whitney, among others, Jacob Fowler is and will be a superstar.
"First of all, this young man is a superstar. He's not just good, he's really good!" - Pierre McGuire
"He's incredible; he's like Dominik Hasek combined with Patrick Roy, Carey Price, and Martin Brodeur." - Ryan Whitney
So, the Canadiens might have found their new Patrick Roy, mixed with Carey Price and two other legends, Martin Brodeur and Dominik Hasek. What needs to be understood is that he possesses all the qualities of the greatest in history.
Moreover, he is so motivated to play for the Canadiens that he is currently learning French to better integrate himself. While it's not essential, it's certain that many fans will appreciate it.
"I want to learn French; it's one of my goals. Not just because I'll be playing in Montreal, but for my family as well. I'm working on it in class and also with my friend Gabe Perreault. I'm learning basic French as well as some Québécois expressions. My wish is to be able to do basic interviews in French when I join the Canadiens." - Jacob Fowler
Honestly, whether he speaks French or not doesn't matter much to me. It's his decision in the end, but his desire to learn it shows that he is truly committed to giving his all for the organization, and that is very encouraging!
