Martin Necas' name has been circulating heavily lately on the trade market, and some rumors link him to the Canadiens and Kent Hughes.

It would make a lot of sense according to several analysts, as Kent Hughes needs offense and the Hurricanes have no immediate need, with prospects and draft picks potentially being enough.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned last week that Necas had requested a trade, and it has just been confirmed by his own father. That's a pretty certain source.

"I'll be very surprised if Martin Necas plays for Carolina in the next season.

As his dad said, Martin wants to play in 1st line & 1st PP unit. His dad even said in an interview for DenikSport: ,Martin wants to be traded.» In my eyes, Necas is a great offensive winger."

In Montreal, Necas would have this opportunity. He would certainly be among the top three or four best forwards on the team for several years to come.

The 25-year-old center, who can also play on the wing, is coming off two seasons with 71 and 53 points respectively. He has great potential and simply asks for the chance to play more minutes.

If Kent Hughes is indeed able to acquire him, I believe the Canadiens could qualify for the playoffs sooner rather than later.
