In fact, the entire NHL disgusts me in all these events, as the CH comes out as the big loser across the board. Nothing has gone in their favor, or against someone else.
The message sent by Gary Bettman and the NHL with their stance is terrible. It makes no sense how questionable and poorly managed the decisions are.
First of all, injuries happen. It's unfortunate, but Cédric Paré made a dangerous play; he deserved to be ejected from the game, and Patrik Laine will be injured for a long time.
The referees didn't penalize anything, which caused Arber Xhekaj to overflow, seeking justice for his teammate. Then, the sheriff received a fine for his lack of sportsmanship, and that's it.
The NHL decided not to punish Cédric Paré or the Toronto Maple Leafs for a kneeing from a player in the American League that potentially ended one of their star players' seasons.
What message does that send to all teams? To let American League players play during preseason games and allow them to injure star players for an extended period?
It's disastrous and unacceptable. Gary Bettman should be ashamed for not protecting his players in this way.
