In the past few hours, the Canadiens announced the signing of young Jared Davidson to a two-year NHL entry-level contract.

This is excellent news for the young man, who the Canadiens could have lost for nothing today at 5 PM.

However, Davidson wasn't the only candidate. Miguel Tourigny, Petteri Nurmi, and Cedrick Guindon were also about to become free agents.

Each year, the rights to certain prospects expire on June 1 at 5 PM. The Canadiens had four such players, but they signed Davidson.

It's now confirmed for Nurmi, Guindon, and Tourigny
Indeed, Kent Hughes ultimately did not offer contracts to the three players, who are now officially free to sign wherever they want.

Miguel Tourigny might have had a chance, but as a small-statured defenseman, it was impossible for him with the Canadiens' strong prospect pool.

However, he left a very good impression at the last training camp.

As for Cedrick Guindon, he becomes eligible for the draft again, as he comes from the CHL.

He might get drafted, as he has been a model of consistency, with three seasons of 68 games and 59, 69, and 57 points in the OHL.

We wish the best of luck to the three players!
