It's now confirmed for JF Houle, but concerning for Paul Byron
This morning, the Canadiens confirmed the rumors that had been circulating for some time about the head coach of the Laval Rocket, Jean-François Houle.
Indeed, the rumors suggested that he would remain in his position and that the organization liked what they saw from him, even though it was Marc Bergevin who initially hired him.
"The general manager of the Laval Rocket, John Sedgwick, announced Wednesday that the AHL team had agreed to terms on a new multi-year contract with its head coach, Jean-François Houle.
Assistant coach Martin Laperrière, goaltending coach Marco Marciano, and video coach Charles Juneau also agreed to multi-year contract extensions."

This is excellent news for Houle and the future of the Canadiens. With the development work he has done with Arber Xhekaj, Logan Mailloux, Cole Caufield, Joshua Roy, and several others to come, it is well deserved.
However, it is concerning that Paul Byron was not named as an assistant coach. This rumor has also been circulating for some time, and the Canadiens are still apparently looking for the right candidate to replace Kelly Buchberger.
Byron is highly regarded within the organization and does good work with the young players, in addition to being very involved. We recall that Logan Mailloux lived with him last year when he arrived from junior.
Let's hope he is considered for the assistant coach position with Houle or that he is simply happy in his current role.
