As indicated by TFP journalist David Pagnotta, its likely over for 31-year-old veteran player Tanner Pearson with the habs.
The Canadiens had acquired his services along with a 3rd-round pick in the 2025 draft in the transaction sending goaltender Casey DeSmith to the Vancouver Canucks on September 19, 2023.
So, the 2014 Stanley Cup winner with the Los Angeles Kings will test the free agent market come July 1st.
This year, Tanner Pearson was in the final year of a 3-year contract where he earned a salary of $3.25 million per season.
David Pagnotta of TFP mentioned:
"Another player gearing up to hit the free agent market is veteran winger Tanner Pearson. He will not be re-signed by the Montreal Canadiens and will begin evaluating his options by July.
The former Stanley Cup champion would be a quality addition to a contender's third line." - David Pagnotta
Last season, Tanner Pearson managed a modest total of 5 goals and 8 assists for a total of 13 points in 54 games with a cumulative -12 and an additional 21 minutes in penalties.
In his career, the Kitchener, Ontario native has amassed 285 points in 644 games in the National Hockey League, including 138 goals.
Tanner Pearson will therefore try his luck on the market. Do you think the former Stanley Cup champion could contribute on a third or fourth line for a Stanley Cup contender?
It would likely also be the end for two other players with the Canadiens organization, Cédrick Guindon and Petteri Nurmi.
