Kaapo Kakko to Montreal: A surprising trade for Kent Hughes
While we are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Trevor Zegras or Martin Necas with the Canadiens, a new possibility has emerged involving Kaapo Kakko.
Last year, we were all focused on Pierre-Luc Dubois, but Hughes surprised us with Alex Newhook.
The year before, expectations were uncertain, and it turned out to be a home run with Kirby Dach.
Will Kent Hughes surprise us once again this year? The expectations are high, but acquiring Kakko for Montreal wouldn't necessarily be bad.
We are talking about the 2nd overall pick in 2019, right before Kirby Dach. He has a good size and is capable of producing, but it simply hasn't worked out in New York.
According to BPM Sports, the question arises:
"Kaapo Kakko, selected 2nd in 2019 by the Rangers, was left out of the lineup for the second game of the Eastern Conference Finals. He will be a restricted free agent. If you are the Canadiens, is Kakko a player who interests you?" - BPM Sports
Jeff Gorton, who drafted Kakko, knows him very well. It seems evident that he will be traded this summer, and it wouldn't be too costly.
Would you like the Canadiens to try giving him a second chance as well?
