Two free players for Kent Hughes thanks to Daniel Brière?
Kent Hughes is looking to improve his offense at a good price, and this could become a reality thanks to Daniel Brière and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Indeed, while there is frequent talk of adding promising young players who can play in the top 6, what about the bottom six?
There are also spots to fill on the 3rd and 4th lines, and one Flyers player in particular could help.
According to Samuel Doiron, Cal Petersen and Cam Atkinson might be bought out by Brière and the Flyers, making them free to sign at the minimum salary with another team.
«Nothing is official at the moment, but it is likely to see one or even two veterans bought out, and logically, Cam Atkinson and Cal Petersen would be prime candidates for Brière,» reported Samuel Doiron
Brière has publicly admitted that he is considering buying out contracts. These are the most likely players to leave the Flyers.
For the Canadiens, Atkinson would be a very interesting candidate. With the loss of Sean Monahan and Tanner Pearson, the presence of a veteran and good leader would be beneficial to the team and the young players.
He currently earns $5.875 million for one more year and can reach 40 or 50 points in a season.
One thing is certain: things will be moving in Philadelphia in the coming weeks, and Kent Hughes will need to stay alert.
