The seasons follow one another and are similar for Kaiden Guhle, who too often puts himself in a vulnerable position and at risk of injury.

Last night, he did not protect himself once again and he fell badly on the boards. We saw him grimace following this contact with Adrian Kempe.

It was certainly a man-on-man contact, but there was nothing illegal on the hit. Kempe wasn't in Guhle's blind spot, he didn't make a charge, Guhle had the puck and he didn't hit him in the back.

The Canadiens defenseman knew the Kings forward was coming and he didn't protect himself properly, and that's happened several times since the beginning of his career.

He's also had several concussions, so we hope it's not like that again. He's not participating in practice today and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. His presence for Saturday night's game is uncertain.

As for Michael Matheson, we don't know how he got injured last night, but he left after one period of play. He didn't come back during the game and the announcement of Logan Mailloux's recall suggested the worst.

It was ultimately to replace Kaiden Guhle that Mailloux was recalled, while Matheson missed training for a day of treatment, but there is no talk of a prolonged absence in his case as of yet.

So it was most likely a precaution that the Canadiens refused to let Michael Matheson return to the game Thursday night, but I expect him to be in uniform Saturday. If the Canadiens lose their number 1 and 2 defensemen, it could be catastrophic.
