Kent Hughes about to sign a former 6th overall pick: it's now confirmed for FZ
After the trade that brought Patrik Laine to Montreal, it was thought that Kent Hughes' shopping for the summer was over, but it seems otherwise.
The Canadiens' general manager is reportedly in the thick of the fight to acquire young Filip Zadina, who was overlooked in favor of Jesperi Kotkaniemi in 2018.

Coming from the QMJHL, everyone believed in Filip Zadina's chances of being drafted by the Canadiens, but Marc Bergevin and his team passed on him in 2018, and he was eventually picked 6th overall.
He even mentioned he would fill the net against the Canadiens, a promise still unfulfilled as his career remains uncertain in the NHL.
Rumors suggest a small one-year contract or even a professional tryout. Other interested teams include the Avalanche and the Maple Leafs.
Kent Hughes is known for targeting former first-round picks who haven't reached their full potential. If he believes Filip Zadina can bounce back under Martin St-Louis, he should give it a shot, especially since his salary will likely be under $1 million per year.
