That's when the name of an underrated player, in my opinion, came up, as an observer suggested acquiring Mikael Granlund from San Jose.
It would certainly be a nice pickup, especially since according to the offer, the Canadiens would give a 2nd and 3rd round pick, while the Sharks would include a 6th round pick.
After scoring 60 points in 69 games last season, Granlund is still capable of offering very good hockey. He is in the last year of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
In my opinion, the Sharks would be making a mistake by trading him. 60 points in 69 games with the poor Sharks of last year is almost an achievement, and he is a good veteran to support the emerging young players like Macklin Celebrini and William Eklund.
For the Canadiens, maintaining the status quo is not an option this season, and players will be held accountable if the level of competition does not increase. Martin St-Louis also has a crucial role to play.
I don't believe Kent Hughes will make a move, but I think that despite Patrik Laine's injury, the Canadiens could surprise at the beginning of the season, particularly thanks to the brilliance of their goaltenders.
