Despite being sent down and suffering injuries, the defenseman did not get discouraged and came back stronger.
When he was recalled, Arber was transformed. Initially, he was rotating with Jordan Harris and Jayden Struble, but he regained his form significantly.
Paired with David Savard, he had an excellent end to the season on the Canadiens' top 4.
He controlled the play, created opportunities, and importantly, stayed out of the penalty box.
A robust player like him needs to learn to stay within the rules, and he has finally understood that.
It's no surprise that he is in demand on the trade market, and Kent Hughes has reportedly set his price.
According to insider David Pagnotta, Xhekaj is part of the Canadiens' long-term plans, and Hughes won't trade him unless he receives an overwhelming offer.
The price is therefore very high. It would take an offer that Hughes can't refuse, with a team willing to overpay to acquire him.
This is excellent news for the fans and the Canadiens. Players like Arber are rare. He is a fan favorite, and rightly so.
