Kent Hughes is reportedly about to announce the departure of two forwards from the Canadiens, according to David Ettedgui.

Indeed, the Canadiens have a lot of deadwood in their offense, so this news isn't surprising.

Following Mike Hoffman's departure last year, two more players are expected to leave this summer: Christian Dvorak and Jesse Ylonen.

Jesse Ylonen has never really seized his chance and might simply be released as a restricted free agent.

For Christian Dvorak, it just never worked out in Montreal, marking another painful trade by Marc Bergevin.

"Christian Dvorak won't be here for training camp. I'd use him to free up cap space and trade him for a player I want to bring to Montreal.

So he won't be here. He's no longer in the Canadiens' future plans. We have young centers like Owen Beck and Oliver Kapanen who will surpass him in the future. Even Jake Evans is more valuable in the short and medium term.

Jesse Ylonen, it's game over. 59 games, 4 goals, and 4 assists. I think he missed his chance, and we won't see him at training camp again." - David Ettedgui

I agree with Ettedgui, but I don't understand how Kent Hughes could trade Dvorak given that he hasn't played a full season since 2017-18. Plus, he only recorded 9 points in 30 games last year, making his $4.45 million salary hard to move.

However, considering that Kent Hughes managed to trade Mike Hoffman without retaining salary, anything is possible.
