The Canadiens have several heavy contracts given to certain players, including Brendan Gallagher, Josh Anderson, and Christian Dvorak.

Joel Armia was part of that group, but his end of the season last year salvaged his reputation. He became very useful to the Canadiens, and his current contract even makes sense now.

Returning to the bad contracts, Christian Dvorak will be an unrestricted free agent in July 2025, so there's only one year left.

For Brendan Gallagher and Josh Anderson, it's $6.5 and $5.5 million respectively until 2027. Ouch.

Imagine the player Hughes could sign with that $12 million!

As for Gallagher, he is useful with his leadership and work ethic, but Anderson doesn't fit with the team's playing style.

According to Eric Engels, he could, however, thrive with another team.

"I think Josh Anderson would be that player.

I know a lot of people have lost faith in him, but I think that largely stems from the fact that he doesn't fit very well with the team's playing style.

A team with a north-south forechecking style could consider Anderson as a perfect reclamation project.

Especially if that team is playoff-bound and needs what he has proven he can bring at that time of year." - Eric Engels

Honestly, I find this reasoning very fair. Anderson is a one-dimensional player who plays good north-south hockey. However, there's no finesse in his game.
