Last-minute Acquisition by the Montreal Canadiens: Unfortunately, it's the end for Brandon Gignac
Since his arrival with the Canadiens, Brandon Gignac has done a good depth job, including scoring his first career NHL goal.
It was believed that his chances of finishing the season with the Habs were good, but he has just been placed on waivers.
The reason is quite simple: Kent Hughes claimed center Colin White off waivers. Ironically, it was the Penguins who placed him on waivers, so he's already in Pittsburgh and should play tonight against his former team.
"The Canadiens have claimed forward Colin White off waivers (Pittsburgh) and have placed forward Brandon Gignac on waivers for the purpose of a loan to the Laval Rocket." - Montreal Canadiens
The 21st overall pick in 2015 has over 300 games of NHL experience and has accumulated over 100 points. He undoubtedly becomes an important addition for the Habs.
For Gignac, let's hope he won't be claimed and can go help the Rocket in their push for the playoffs.
