Major announcement: Alex Burrows steps down from his assistant coaching role
Plot twist this morning on this day of free agency, as Alex Burrows has decided to step down from his assistant coaching role under Martin St-Louis.
This caught us by surprise. It appears to be Alex's decision, motivated by family reasons.
"Alex Burrows will not be returning behind the Montreal Canadiens' bench next season as he wished to spend more time with his family. It's his choice and not the team's. However, he should have another role within the organization." - Renaud Lavoie
He will remain with the Canadiens organization, but Martin St-Louis will need to find a new specialist for the power play.
Without any prior rumors on the subject, the first name that comes to mind for me is Guy Boucher, who was let go by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
We'll see who ultimately becomes the candidate, but this selection would make a lot of sense.
