Major announcement from Geoff Molson and it's underway!
Geoff Molson, owner of the Montreal Canadiens, has never been afraid to talk about rebuilding in front of fans, and he's known for speaking candidly.
He is undoubtedly a businessman who values revenue, but he is also very close to the fans and very straightforward.
For an organization like the Montreal Canadiens, which has never undergone a complete rebuild in over 100 years, to have an owner openly state that this is the strategy takes a lot of courage. I tip my hat to him.
In short, Geoff Molson is working to enhance the fan experience, and there will be changes at the Bell Centre this year. In addition to a new "standing room" section, the scoreboard has been replaced with a more advanced, stunningly beautiful screen.
"MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens revealed Monday the technical specifications for their new scoreboard at the Bell Centre that will debut for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The board will be formally in use for the first time before the public in the team's pair of «Prospect Showdown» games against the Toronto Maple Leafs next Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15."
- Montreal Canadiens
You'll get the chance to see it for the first time at the Rookie Tournament between the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs, featuring players like Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, David Reinbacher, and many others.
It's an incredible investment in the experience at the Bell Centre. Tickets are expensive, and not everyone can afford a game at the Canadiens' home, but at least it's reassuring to see that the organization and its owner are investing.
