The Canadiens and Kent Hughes are currently in Florida, along with several other executives, to meet the phenomenon Ivan Demidov.
Demidov is listed as the logical 2nd overall choice for the upcoming draft, but for various reasons, he is slipping down the rankings, similar to Matvei Michkov.
His country of birth raises many questions. Additionally, there have been mixed reports about him, particularly regarding his height.
Secondly, his measurements are much more surprising than expected. The initial reports indicated he was 5'10" or 5'11". For the Canadiens, this could have been a factor given their roster of smaller players, but the reality is different.
In short, Demidov seems ready for the NHL, both mentally and physically. This is excellent news for the Canadiens, especially if he is still available when they make their 5th pick.
