Kent Hughes: trades are reportedly completed, and we're awaiting the verdict
Things are currently slow in the NHL, with nothing happening in terms of trades, only rumors, and Kent Hughes is part of them.
Indeed, much like at the trade deadline, it takes just one trade to get everything moving. Teams will make deals before and after the draft, but they are all waiting for one player.
According to Renaud Lavoie, the entire market is paralyzed by the Oilers' presence in the Stanley Cup Finals. Leon Draisaitl will be an unrestricted free agent in a year and reportedly wants to leave Edmonton.
"In my opinion, within a week, there will be trades announced. If Leon Draisaitl tells the Oilers he has no intention of returning, the Oilers have no choice but to trade him immediately."
Renaud Lavoie on BPM Sports
Renaud explains that all teams are waiting for this decision before confirming trades. There are verbal agreements, but as long as the Oilers' star is possibly on the market, organizations are keeping some flexibility.
We are talking about a player who has amassed 850 points in 719 games and 107 points in 71 playoff games. He's a machine and will be very expensive.
Obviously, a decision will not be made until the end of the playoffs, as Draisaitl and the Oilers try to come back after winning the last game.
