The only problem is that the Canadiens couldn't meet him at the Combine, nor could other teams. Players from his country aren't allowed to attend this event.
So, Demidov went to Florida to continue his preparation and meet with NHL teams. The Canadiens are meeting him today, and it promises to be significant!
At the moment, we know that the Habs like Cayden Lindstrom a lot. Since the management bases their decisions not only on athletic qualities and skills but also on the human aspect, this meeting is crucial.
Getting to know the young man is super important for the organization. Nothing is left to chance. Demidov is possibly the best forward in the draft, even ahead of Macklin Celebrini, but his country of birth might make him slip to the 5th spot.
From what we hear, his case is much simpler than Matvei Michkov's last year. He doesn't have a long contract in the KHL, he is very open to all teams, and he has a good attitude on and off the ice.
There is no controversy when talking about Demidov, and with his talent, it's likely to please the Habs' management. Now we have to see if they believe he can handle the pressure of Montreal and, most importantly, if he will be available at the 5th spot on June 28th.
