It is finally Cayden Primeau who will get the start, he who played most of Tuesday's game against the Seattle Kraken.
I understand that it is a road game, but I do not understand this decision by the coach at all. The Canadiens do not play two games in two nights before November 27 and 28, so why not come back with the best?
Samuel Montembeault is clearly the better of the two goalies and even if he did not look good Tuesday night, he deserves to be on the ice tonight, in my humble opinion.
Primeau won his last game in Philadelphia on Sunday, but he doesn't have Montembeault's stuff. Primeau will have played more than the organization's number 1 goalie this week, which is becoming more worrisome.
With his start on Sunday, his half-game on Tuesday and his game tonight, Primeau will have been called upon. That's good in the context of him dominating, but that's not the case and that's what adds to the concerns.
Regardless, Martin St. Louis made a decision, and he seems very comfortable with it. The coach obviously has his reasons for acting this way and he decided to go with the goalie who, in his opinion, would give him the best chance of winning.
Do you agree with this bold decision by Martin St. Louis? Would you have preferred that he give Montembeault the chance to bounce back immediately?
