During the 2023 draft, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens' front office decided to overlook Marvei Michkov.

Eventually, it was the Flyers who selected him at the 8th overall pick, but the Russian could still indirectly help the Habs.

Rumors suggest that Michkov might become available to come to North America as early as the 2024-25 season, two years earlier than expected. This is a significant development.

According to Marc Antoine Godin from Radio-Canada, Michkov's arrival could prompt Daniel Brière to consider trading Joel Farabee, and this could be beneficial for Kent Hughes.

"According to journalist Marc-Antoine Godin from Radio-Canada, Michkov's arrival could make forward Joel Farabee available in Philly.

'Joel Farabee is a guy who, in my opinion, has the tools to interest the Canadiens if the Canadiens want to make a trade.'

- Marc Antoine Godin"

Farabee is exactly the type of player Kent Hughes wants to add to his roster, and moreover, the Flyers are in need of defensive reinforcement.

In 82 games this season, he amassed 50 points, including 22 goals. He would be a significant addition to the top 6.
