In Montreal, that won't be possible, as the number is retired in honor of Ken Dryden, so the Finnish forward will have to change his number for the first time.
He'll take on the number that Jonathan Drouin wore in his second-to-last year with the Canadiens. Drouin later switched to number 27 after Alexander Romanov was traded.
Patrik Laine had no choice but to change his number, so he decided to reverse the digits and will now wear 92.
The new forward is really hoping to revive his career with the Canadiens. We know that's why he's in Montreal, and his goal is to score more than 40 goals this season.
He certainly has the potential to do so and will likely have the tools to make it happen. Moreover, he'll become a better player under Martin St-Louis.
His coach from last year, Pascal Vincent, is now the head coach of the Rocket. Kent Hughes surely consulted him before making this acquisition, which is very encouraging.
