Plot twist in the Ivan Demidov case, and he's missing
Ivan Demidov will play in the KHL this season before joining the Canadiens in April or next year.
At least, that's the initial plan, as the young forward has a one-year contract with SKA. However, this could change and nothing is confirmed.
Similar to Matvei Michkov, who will join the Flyers two years earlier, Demidov could join the Canadiens in September if SKA decides not to develop him.
It's frustrating for a team to know that an exciting young player will go elsewhere in a year, and they can't do anything about it.
Imagine if Juraj Slafkovsky left this summer to join another league... he wouldn't be as beloved by fans and the organization, that's for sure.
Regarding Demidov, he's not present at SKA's camp, raising major questions.
"He doesn't look like he's in this clip either. Hmm."
This could be due to injury or other reasons, but everything indicates he's not with the KHL organization.
Could the Canadiens be close to reaching an agreement with SKA to bring Demidov earlier? Will they do as with Michkov and the Flyers?
Having Demidov in the lineup this year would be quite a change for Martin St-Louis and Kent Hughes.
Update on Ivan Demidov
According to Nicolas Cloutier, Demidov is not on the ice because he is still recovering from an injury.
