The Flyers of the 2023-24 season are the equivalent of the Kraken in 2022-23 and the Kings the year before, meaning they are the Cinderella team in the NHL.

No one could have believed they would be battling for a playoff spot, especially in the highly competitive Metropolitan Division. Many criticized John Tortorella, but he has proven the organization right.

For the first time in his career as a general manager, Daniel Brière finds himself in the buyer's position at the approaching trade deadline.

What leads us to believe he might make a trade is the fact that he has just lost two key defensemen long-term, not to mention that his number one goaltender, Carter Hart, is also out indefinitely.

Indeed, Rasmus Ristolainen and Jamie Drysdale are injured. We know that Brière has shown interest in Arber Xhekaj in the past, but it didn't materialize. In my opinion, the Canadiens do not want to trade him.

However, the Habs remain a desirable destination for a team in need of defense. Jordan Harris is officially on the market, and rumors are intensifying about David Savard.

It's worth noting that Johnathan Kovacevic could also be available. Here are three defensemen ready to help a team like the Flyers right now.

Will Daniel Brière call Kent Hughes to inquire? It wouldn't be surprising, and it's definitely a storyline to follow.
