The rumor is now confirmed about Kent Hughes and the Canadiens
There are many rumors about the Canadiens and Kent Hughes these days, and the most important one has just been confirmed by insider David Pagnotta.
Indeed, Kent Hughes is truly preparing a big trade, as he is engaged with other teams. The ultimate goal is to add more goals to his lineup.
"Kent Hughes is engaged in conversations with teams & kinda exploring to see what NHL proven & top 6 guys are available. He's circling on the wing & wants to add more scoring to that lineup, which is why we're hearing all this speculation towards Martin Necas & Trevor Zegras."
- David Pagnotta, via HabsOnReddit This is serious. We know from Kent Hughes himself that the goal is to improve the offense and that if a trade makes sense for the future of the team, he will do it.
On the eve of the draft, we can expect to see Hughes make a move, as he has done in the past two campaigns.
Besides Trevor Zegras and Martin Necas, the Canadiens' GM could turn to Rutger McGroarty, Cole Perfetti, or the young Cole Eiserman.
Although Eiserman has not yet been drafted, Hughes could move up from his 26th overall pick to get him. He is the best scorer of the entire draft class, with more impressive numbers than Cole Caufield at the same age, in the same league.
