Trade between the Canadiens and the Preds: Golden opportunity for Kent Hughes
Kent Hughes now has the opportunity to trade what he has in surplus to acquire what he needs, and it's with the Nashville Predators.
Indeed, young Philip Tomasino is available on the market, and Barry Trotz is reportedly looking for young defensemen. Well, well!
"Nashville seems to be fairly active exploring options to upgrade their blueline, both on the trade front and free agency. Two pending UFAs on their radar are Brett Pesce & Sean Walker." - David Pagnotta According to rumors, defenseman Brett Pesce is almost confirmed to sign with New Jersey. Therefore, the Canadiens could propose one or two young defensemen who are no longer part of their plans.
Imagine a trade involving Jordan Harris and Justin Barron, or even Jayden Struble, for example. Tomasino's value is not incredible, so the price for Kent Hughes wouldn't be astronomical.
Tomasino has 148 games of NHL experience and has accumulated 70 points. He was the 24th overall pick in 2019, the same draft class as Kirby Dach, Alex Newhook, and Cole Caufield a year Hughes seems to appreciate a lot.
