Transaction between the Canadiens and the Devils involving Michael Pezzetta: the fit is good for Lavoie
The Montreal Canadiens are starting to develop some impressive depth, and certain veterans will need to leave room for the younger players.
Michael Pezzetta is undoubtedly part of that group, and he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the current season, which gives Kent Hughes even more reasons to trade him.
Before the start of training camp, I was personally ready to let him go through waivers if necessary, but his performance in yesterday's game greatly surprised me. He scored two goals and was the best player for the Habs.
Martin St-Louis said after the game that he is not at all surprised to see this. Michael Pezzetta is competitive and gives it his all every time he steps into the arena.

According to the journalist, there's no chance he wouldn't be claimed if Kent Hughes submits him to waivers. And the Devils would be very interested.
If a young player like Florian Xhekaj, Luke Tuch, or even Rafaël Harvey-Pinard upon his return pushes Michael Pezzetta out of the lineup, don't be surprised if he isn't placed on waivers.
Kent Hughes will certainly try to get a return for him instead of letting him leave for nothing. One thing's for sure, Michael Pezzetta is quite the warrior!
