Unexpected absence of Patrik Laine and injury: we have details
It came as a surprise this morning when we learned that Finnish forward Patrik Laine would not be present for Saturday's on-ice training session.
This is both concerning and disappointing, as the player is highly motivated, and injuries have plagued the Canadiens far too often in recent years. It would be unfortunate if Patrik Laine were already injured.
According to Anthony Marcotte, there may be a very simple explanation for his absence.
"Patrik Laine barely skated during the offseason. He stayed in shape, but on-ice training wasn't something he focused on much."
- Anthony Marcotte, on Patrik Laine
Given the lack of repetitions he had in recent months, it's somewhat understandable. We mustn't forget that Patrik Laine missed a lot of hockey last season, playing in only 18 games.
Hopefully, this is the reason for his absence from Saturday's training session, as it would be a real shame if he were already injured.
Patrik Laine seems happy in Montreal, and fans are eager to see him in action during games.
