Another change is happening behind the bench of the New York Islanders: Patrick Roy is bringing in his former assistant coach
Patrick Roy has only been at the helm of the Islanders for a few days, and there's already a change. He just brought in his former assistant with the Remparts, Benoit Desrosiers.
This hiring was confirmed by Stéphane Leroux of RDS a few days ago, then denied by the Islanders when they were only at the interview stage.
However, it has now been officially confirmed.
"Confirmed: Serge Beausoleil becomes interim head coach of the Olympiques. Benoit Desrosiers officially leaves for New York."
- Via Mikaël Lalancette
Desrosiers will have spent only a short time behind the bench of the Olympiques in the QMJHL, coaching for fewer than 50 games. He's making the direct jump to the NHL and will join Roy, with whom he achieved success in Quebec.
It seems that Casseau is already putting his pieces in place to improve the fortunes of his new team.
