Patrick Roy and his Islanders victims of a viral prank
In the playoffs, anything goes to distract the opponent. Just ask Patrick Roy and his Islanders.
Indeed, in the first game of their series against the Hurricanes, the home team didn't provide a chair for the backup goalie.
Already controversial was Roy's choice to dress Varlamov for the game, Sorokin wasn't having an easy time.
The star goalie had to spend most of the game standing, even though he wasn't in action. The video went viral, and he finally got a chair towards the end of the game, but the damage was done.
Let's just say it caused quite a stir in the media and all over the web. Personally, I've never seen anything like it.
As for Patrick Roy, his decision wasn't contested, as Varlamov performed well despite the loss, stopping 23 of the 25 shots he faced.
