Historic hiring: Jessica Campbell becomes the first female coach
We are living in a very special moment for the future of hockey, and it's excellent news involving Jessica Campbell.
Indeed, the Seattle Kraken has offered her a position as an assistant coach, and she has accepted. It's now confirmed and historicshe becomes the first woman in history.
"Jessica Campbell has been hired as an assistant coach by the #SeaKraken, making her the first woman to ever hold that role full-time for a NHL team." - Chris Johnston, TSN
It's been evident for a while, especially with the PWHL: women have their place in the world of hockey, even in the best league in the world.
Campbell's signing will pave the way for many more hires like hers. Hopefully, this groundbreaking move will lead teams to stop bringing back dinosaurs behind the bench, which often ends poorly, like Darryl Sutter in Calgary.
Congratulations, Jessica! You are an inspiration for many women who aspire to and deserve greater recognition in the hockey world.
