Criminal pursuit: Mitch Marner must mourn
As fans of the Maple Leafs demand his departure following their elimination in the first round this year, Mitch Marner's troubles are far from over.
Indeed, the star forward received some very bad news related to an incident from two years ago.
Marner had been a victim of an armed robbery. Masked men had stolen his car and fled.
Fortunately, no one was harmed during the incident, and the assailants were apprehended.
On the day of the verdict, Marner has been waiting for two years for charges to be made and confirmed, but that's not the case. The car thieves have been acquitted.
"Mitchell Marner's carjackers have had all of their charges withdrawn." - Rick Westhead
Marner experienced some trauma following this event, which is understandable.
This news must taste very bitter for him, especially coming just days after his team's elimination.
Many even believe that perhaps it's because of this incident that he didn't meet expectations in the playoffs.
Looking at it from another perspective, William Nylander missed games, Auston Matthews did too, and Marner had this on his mind.
