Incredible: a first player surrenders to the police in connection with the Team Canada Junior 2018 scandal, and it's Alex Formenton
It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a concrete development in the story of the 2018 Team Canada Junior scandal.
Although five players left their respective teams for personal reasons, and we know their names, there has never been formal confirmation.
We have just learned that former Ottawa Senators forward (the team still holds his rights, but he plays in Europe), Alex Formenton, has turned himself in to the police in London, Ontario.
"BREAKING: Alex Formenton, a former NHL player with the Ottawa Senators and 2018 junior player, has turned himself into London police. 'Alex will vigorously defend his innocence and asks that people not rush to judgment without hearing all of the evidence.'"
He seems very confident in his innocence. It's true that judgments have come quickly since the scandal was made public several months ago.
As Alex says, let's wait to find out what really happened before passing judgment. If the NHL has not taken action and has not imposed any sanctions, it may be because there is nothing to sanction.
Case to be followed...
