Powerful statement from Connor Bedard: The young star can't believe it, and empathy takes hold of him
For obvious reasons, Connor Bedard did not participate in the World Juniors, and he couldn't help his compatriots win the gold medal. It's noteworthy that he could have played in the tournament this year and the next, but he is now excelling in the NHL.
While he won gold with Team Canada junior last year, Bedard had his eyes on the tournament to see his friends perform. He feels a lot of their pain.
"Connor Bedard was heartbroken about Canada's loss in World Juniors: 'I know a lot of guys on the team, and being a Canadian, we take a lot of pride in that. I just feel bad for those guys and how hard they played. It sucks, for sure.'"
Bedard is heartbroken, to say the least. One can understand that. Even though he's on a new adventure with the Blackhawks, he would certainly have liked to help them in the tournament.
Losing with 11 seconds left in a game, as it happened against the Czech Republic, is never easy for anyone. Hopefully, the players will recover, and most of them will have the chance to come back next year to avenge their defeat.
