Since the Canadiens drafted David Reinbacher 5th overall in 2023, analysts have enjoyed comparing him to a current NHL player. The name that comes up the most is Moritz Seider.

People remain cautious, noting that the Austrian could become a player similar to Seider, but he has a long way to go before reaching Seider's level of defense.

According to Arpon Basu and Marc Antoine Godin, there might be more offensive potential in Reinbacher's game than initially thought, and he could resemble Noah Dobson more.

"According to the pod, the Habs look at David Reinbacher as being much closer to Noah Dobson than Moritz Seider and value Reinbacher the way NYI value Dobson.

Dobson is having one hell of a season this year and is producing at a 84 point pace."

This is a significant statement, considering Dobson is undoubtedly one of the best defensemen in the NHL this season. He is a cornerstone on the Islanders' defense and is only 24 years old.

In addition to his outstanding point production so far, Dobson has achieved 49 and 51 points in the last two seasons, which is impressive for a defenseman. He also maintains a positive plus/minus differential of +17.

If Reinbacher can indeed become this type of defenseman, there's no doubt he will be on the top pairing in Montreal for a long time.
