Trade between the Canadiens and the Oilers involving Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau? There's new information, and we can officially forget about it
For several weeks, there have been rumors surrounding the Oilers and the Canadiens for a goaltending trade. The Oilers have been scouting the Habs repeatedly, that's a fact.
Several reputable insiders also confirmed that there were talks between Kent Hughes and Ken Holland, but there's a change.
With the team's recent success and Stuart Skinner's outstanding performance, the Oilers' general manager no longer feels the urgency to find another goaltender.
Here's what he mentioned to Pierre LeBrun:
"Stuart Skinner is playing very well right now, and Calvin Pickard is an excellent backup." The GM is comfortable with his current two goaltenders and has reportedly stepped back from any negotiations. Unless there's an injury or another challenging stretch, we can definitely forget about Edmonton as a potential partner for a goaltending trade.
