It's been about two weeks now since defenseman Arber Xhekaj has been sidelined, having been injured during the game against the Golden Knights.

A powerful check from Ivan Barbashev took him out of the game, and he did not return afterward. It was initially mentioned that his condition was being evaluated daily, and he was placed on the injured list last week. Needless to say, it was a cause for concern.

However, there's good news as the defenseman was on the ice for the optional morning practice today, along with Michael Pezzetta, Mattias Norlinder, Jake Allen, and Cayden Primeau.

It's worth noting that the young Primeau is expected to start tonight. For Xhekaj, it's a very positive sign as it marks the first time he's been on the ice since his injury.

It would still be surprising if he were in the lineup tonight, but he could certainly be available for Saturday's game. It will be something to watch closely, as Kent Hughes will need to assign a player to Laval.
