Trade between the Canadiens and the Oilers involving Samuel Montembeault: Edmonton takes drastic measures
It's been several times that Oilers scouts have been present at Canadiens' games in recent weeks. We know there have been discussions between the two teams for a goaltender, so the connection is quite easy to make.
During Jake Allen's last three games, there was presence from Edmonton in the stands. However, what happened on Wednesday night was significant.
The Oilers sent three scouts to watch Samuel Montembeault's performance, namely Brad Holland, the assistant general manager, Warren Rychel, the professional scout, and Jeff Salajko, the goaltending specialist scout.
It's certainly not a coincidence and clearly indicates that Kent Hughes could ask for a high price for Samuel Montembeault.
The Oilers would then have a good goaltender for years to come. As has been the case since last year, Sam delivered, being named the first star of the game.
It's unclear whether this will materialize, or even if Montembeault is currently on the market. However, the Oilers and the Canadiens are really due to make deals together.
