Pierre-Luc Dubois denies rumors and reveals what really happened with the Montreal Canadiens
Despite many years and almost certain expectations from Montreal Canadiens fans to see him land in Montreal, Pierre-Luc Dubois ended up signing a lucrative contract with the Kings.
Following this trade/signing between the Jets and the Kings, rumors began to circulate in the opposite direction. It's known that many players have used Montreal as a stepping stone to secure better conditions elsewhere.
Dubois insists that this is not the case for him, even revealing that he came close three times to becoming a Hab.
"Has Pierre-Luc Dubois ever wanted to come and play in Montreal? Some think not, he assures that he has. What's done is done, and the Quebecois is now seeking happiness under the palm trees."
- Alexandre Gascon
Indeed, during the 2016 draft, Bergevin reportedly made a strong attempt to move up in the draft to select Dubois. Then, the former GM of the Canadiens would have tried again to acquire the Hometown forward during his departure from Columbus, and later, Kent Hughes in Winnipeg.
Pierre-Luc insists that the interest has always been mutual between him and the Canadiens, but it just never worked out.
It was revealed yesterday that the Jets' demands were Kirby Dach or Kaiden Guhle. Now we understand why Kent Hughes withdrew from this deal.
