The Montreal Canadiens lose a young defenseman for nothing
A few weeks ago, defenseman Nicolas Beaudin requested the organization to find a solution for him to play more frequently. It wasn't formally a trade request, but it certainly seemed to be part of the strategy.
It appears that Kent Hughes was not able to accommodate his request, as he has just terminated his contract by mutual agreement.
"The Canadiens have placed defenseman Nicolas Beaudin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, following a mutual agreement."
- Montreal Canadiens
Beaudin is far from being a negligible player. He has good statistics in the American Hockey League, but Hughes may not have been able to trade him, leading to this decision.
We wish him good luck and hope he finds a team that can offer him plenty of ice time.
