A recent news story in the NHL has revealed that three players have simultaneously announced their departures, leaving the league to sign contracts in Europe.

Here are the three players who have confirmed their departures:

-Defenseman Gabriel Carlsson

At 26 years old, he was a first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 81 career NHL games, Carlsson has accumulated a total of 18 points.

-Defenseman Patrik Nemeth

At 31 years old, he was a second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Dallas Stars. Nemeth has played a total of 504 NHL games, amassing 70 points and 240 penalty minutes.

-Goaltender Dylan Ferguson

Perhaps the biggest surprise is this young 24-year-old goaltender. He has been dominant in the AHL, boasting a 2.30 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.926 in eight games with the Belleville Senators. He also participated in two games with the Ottawa Senators in the NHL, where he performed admirably with a 2.52 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.940.

His potential seemed promising, making his decision to abandon his career here to play in Europe quite puzzling, especially given how close he appeared to making the jump to the big league.
