According to a well-placed NHL source and reported by Marco D'Amico, players with one-way contracts could be placed on waivers before the start of the next season.
So far, nothing unusual. This happens every year, but this year is different because young players with a lot of potential will be available to all teams, including possibly forward Samuel Poulin.
Drafted in 2019, the draft year that Kent Hughes particularly values (Cole Caufield, Alex Newhook, Kirby Dach), Samuel Poulin has alternated between the NHL and AHL over the past two seasons, but he has a one-way NHL contract for the upcoming season.
He will therefore be eligible for waivers, and many players with his profile will be in the same situation, according to D'Amico's source.
With 31 points in 41 games last year in the American League, Samuel Poulin is knocking on the NHL door and could very well replace a player like Kent Hughes , who is injured until December.
