Major acquisitions by Kent Hughes: He's assembled an entire offensive trio
Kent Hughes has done great things for the Canadiens since he took office, and he has sort of completed the top 6 this summer.
Indeed, there might be one or two more elements needed on the offensive front, but these could very well come from within, with Joshua Roy, Ivan Demidov, Michael Hage, and others.
For now, it seems logical that the top 6 is already known and that the 2nd line will be entirely made up of players Kent Hughes has acquired over the past three years.
Indeed, Alex Newhook had a great end to the season and he fully deserves to be with Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine, even expressing a desire to play with the Finn.
In an interview with Guillaume Lepage, the forward mentioned that he is very excited about Patrik Laine's arrival and would really love the chance to play with him and Kirby Dach.
If he is preparing to play on the 2nd line, he stands a good chance of securing his spot. Tony Marinaro wouldn't be surprised to see Josh Anderson there, but personally, I doubt it.
The Canadiens now have more size and speed, which makes number 17 much less indispensable than when Marc Bergevin acquired him.
Alex Newhook produced at a pace of 51 points over 82 games last season, in addition to playing with lethargic players. He has been very good and certainly deserves this opportunity.
