Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki are key figures in the future of the Montreal Canadiens and are undoubtedly the team's leaders.

Both players have solid contracts and performed well last season, with Caufield earning 77 points and Suzuki 65. Given their age, their progress is commendable.

Despite their strong performances, sports enthusiast and emotional commentator Olivier Primeau has criticized them heavily. He argues that the large contracts given to Suzuki and Caufield are not justified.

"We're giving huge contracts to Suzuki and Caufield, who haven't done anything. They haven't done anything, anything, anything."

"They didn't make the playoffs. They didn't do anything. [...] I understand, but they still haven't done anything to earn $8 million. I'm not saying they won't be good long-term.

We've changed our perspective; we're paying for the future, not for the past."

- Olivier Primeau, who also compares these contracts to those given to Carey Price and Brendan Gallagher.

Primeau's view is that Suzuki's 77 points aren't enough to justify his $7.875 million salary. It's true that the Canadiens didn't make the playoffs, but they are in a rebuilding phase.

Personally, I disagree with Olivier Primeau. I believe both players fully earned their salaries. I do agree that Kent Hughes has invested in the future of these players rather than their past performances.
