It's now confirmed for Kent Hughes and Martin Necas
The Canadiens are absolutely looking to improve their offense, and one player in particular is being targeted and linked to the Canadiens: Martin Necas.
Since it became known that he is available in Carolina, and with GM Don Waddell now in Columbus, rumors about Necas coming to Montreal have been increasing.
The only detail missing was knowing Kent Hughes' interest and the price asked by the Hurricanes.
We have part of the answer, as insider Pierre LeBrun stated that several teams have inquired about Necas, including the Canadiens.
Honestly, I am relieved to see Kent Hughes reaching out to Carolina for the young forward. It could be a major acquisition, and he fits perfectly with the organization's needs.
Moreover, Carolina needs cap space, so prospects and draft picks are likely what they will be asking for, in my opinion. And the Canadiens have plenty of those.
Now we need to know what the demands are, but we shouldn't have any illusions. What is interesting about the Canadiens is their young defensemen.
It's certain that the discussions will start with Lane Hutson, Logan Mailloux, or David Reinbacher. Will Kent Hughes agree to pay that price?
