Some even go as far as to say that the Canadiens should have kept Jaroslav Halak instead of Carey Price. That's saying something!
Indirectly, very indirectly even, the former number 41 helped Kent Hughes acquire Patrik Laine.
When he was traded to the Blues, Halak brought back Lars Eller and Ian Schultz in 2010. Then, in 2016, the Dane was traded to Washington for 2nd-round picks in 2017 and 2018.
In 2018, Marc Bergevin traded that 2nd-round pick for 3rd- and 5th-round picks that same year. The 3rd-round pick was used to select Jordan Harris.
It's quite incredible how things turned out, as a 9th-round pick in 2003 ultimately led the Canadiens to acquire a former 2nd overall pick and a 2nd-round pick!
