With last season's three-way goalie situation, the last thing Kent Hughes and the entire organization want is to repeat the experience this year.

That's why it's a big surprise to learn that the general manager has just signed a goalie, but rest assured, it's a two-way contract to play in the AHL.

Indeed, it was recently discussed that the goalie duo in Laval was inexperienced last year, which sank the team due to the start of the season.

Jakub Dobes needs a veteran by his side, and the Canadiens also need one in case of an injury to Samuel Montembeault or Cayden Primeau.

Kent Hughes has just addressed this issue by agreeing with goaltender Connor Hughes. A very interesting candidate, who was considered the best goalie in Europe last year.

"BROSSARD Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with goaltender Connor Hughes.

The London, Ontario native was never drafted in the NHL and made his professional debut in Switzerland in 2017-2018." - Montreal Canadiens

With a GAA of 1.73 and a save percentage of 0.940, Hughes dominated the Swiss league, even continuing his excellent performance through the playoffs to the finals.

He could really surprise upon arriving in North America and, although he was never drafted in the NHL, he is a native of London, Ontario. So, in a way, he's coming home.
