The name of the Hurricanes' forward, Martin Necas, has been on everyone's lips in Montreal for a few weeks, and we know from Pierre LeBrun that Kent Hughes has made inquiries.
The Canadiens' general manager is working very hard behind the scenes to acquire a young forward like him, and he certainly doesn't want to miss out on such a talented young player, who has the potential to score a point per game.
Now that this has been said and the rumors are increasing, Frank Seravalli has dropped a major piece of information. According to him, we should not be surprised if Necas is traded this week.
The Hurricanes have every interest in trading him before July 1st, otherwise, they risk losing him for less. Martin will be a restricted free agent and eligible to receive an offer sheet, something Carolina cannot afford.
Let's hope Kent Hughes is in the thick of the fight to acquire him, because among the talented young players available this year, Necas is pretty much the best along with Trevor Zegras.
