Martin St-Louis Makes a Powerful Statement, and the Message is Crystal Clear
Canadiens are in the midst of a rebuild. No one expects immediate results, but rather a progression.
Looking at this chart, it's challenging to see progress compared to last year.
In fact, the progress is more at the individual level this year. It's unfair to judge the team's performances, given the ongoing personnel movement.
Martin St-Louis sent a clear message to those who might get tired in the locker room, demonstrating that the coach is following the ongoing process:
"It depends on how you measure success, but if there's a player who's not convinced about how we do things, maybe it's not his place here." - Martin St-Louis
The message is delivered, and the door is open to anyone who doesn't believe in the system and the process.
Personally, I believe players have the right to be tired and frustrated at times. They are proud athletes who, for the most part, dominated everywhere before entering the NHL.
It doesn't mean players no longer want to be part of the rebuild; quite the opposite. Martin St-Louis still has full control of his room, and the results will undoubtedly come.
